Pisa is a must in Tuscany. Indeed you might be flying into or out of its international airport, just two kilometres from the city centre. Many tourists go straight to the famous Leaning Tower and the Square of Miracles, but, believe me, there’s much more to Pisa than that!
You can’t miss the most iconic sight in the whole of Italy, but I also suggest that you take a stroll along the streets to find hidden places, such as Keith Haring’s mural “Tuttomondo” or the Palazzo Blu along the lungarni with wonderful exhibitions.
Lucca is simply a beautiful and friendly place! It is one of the most visited city in Italy with many foreigners that choose this towns as a second home. It is the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini , think about Madame Butterfly, Tosca, Turandot which are still performed in the most important theatres in the world. The surrounding wall is very well preserved and you can easily walk alongside hundreds of bikes because that’s how the locals commute.
The guided tour of this city is very intriguing and there will be lots of surprises when you will know who lived here and how wealthy the town was. It is also a food destination for its variety of game, pulses, mushrooms and delicious olive oil.
The closest wine region is Montecarlo where a pleasant medium body wine is produced. The whites are Flinty and mineral and the reds are red fruit orientated and have good acidity perfect for the local cuisine.
